AboutJean Stodden

The Stodden family has grown vines in the Ahr since 1578. In Rech, fifth-generation Alexander Stodden leads the Jean Stodden estate’s vineyards and cellar. Spätburgunder dominates the plantings; the estate’s vineyards include old, ungrafted vines and steep sites on weathered slate and greywacke.

Pruning and, where needed, green harvesting control yields, while the grapes are picked by hand and carefully sorted. Red wines can spend up to 24 days on skins before oak maturation.
