AboutJean Fillioux
Jean Fillioux is a five-generation Cognac house rooted at Domaine de la Pouyade in Juillac-le-Coq, in the heart of Grande Champagne. Honoré Fillioux founded his own house in 1880 and bought La Pouyade in 1894; his son Jean later expanded bottled sales and gave the brand its enduring name.
The family tends 25 hectares on chalky clay-limestone soils, where it grows Ugni Blanc. The wines are distilled twice with their lees in traditional Charentais pot stills. The Cognacs mature in newer and older French oak.
Jean Fillioux Très Vieux Grande Champagne Cognac
French Cognac
Vanilla leads an expressive nose, followed by orange marmalade, quince and ripe pear. The palate is full and powerful but remains elegant, with jammy fruit and praline bringing richness while sweet spice provides lift and definition. Its generous texture carries the flavours evenly rather than allowing the oak to dominate. The finish is exceptionally long, returning to candied citrus, vanilla, pear and gentle spice. A polished Grande Champagne style with immediate aromatic appeal and enough structure for slow sipping. Serve neat at room temperature.
