Holzer Original is an Austrian producer of herbal bitters. Raphael Holzer is the fourth generation of his family to work in distilling; his great-grandfather Oskar worked with Fernet Stock in Trieste. Raphael’s grandfather Guido established Holzer & Holzer in the late 1960s, and his father Gilbert continued the craft at Brunnwald in Upper Austria.
The business adopted the Holzer Original name in 2025. Its work spans growing selected herbs, distilling, maturation and bottling.

Wild blueberry lends a dark, gently fruity note to an otherwise firmly herbal profile. Arnica and orris root bring earthy bitterness, while lavender gives the aroma a lifted floral edge. The palate is layered and aromatic rather than sweet, with the berry character rounding the bitter botanicals without obscuring them. A long, cooling, floral finish follows. Serve over ice, lengthen with soda, or use sparingly to deepen a spirit-forward cocktail.
