AboutHerdade do Arrepiado Velho
Herdade do Arrepiado Velho is the family project of Isabel and Manuel Antunes, who revived an abandoned nineteenth-century estate near Sousel in 2001. Their restoration preserved the traditional buildings and added a modern winery. The property covers about one hundred hectares, including thirty-three hectares of vineyard planted in 2002 on the gently rising land around the house.
Its Alto Alentejo vineyard has schist soils, mild temperatures and access to water. For its Tinto, made from Touriga Nacional, the estate selects grapes by hand, ferments them naturally and ages part of the wine in French oak.
