AboutHennessy
Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer who had served in the army of Louis XV, founded his Cognac trading house in 1765. Jean Fillioux became its first Master Blender in 1806, beginning a line of eight generations of Fillioux blenders. The house received the commission for its Very Superior Old Pale style in 1817 and created X.O in 1870.
Hennessy uses Ugni Blanc grapes from the Cognac appellation and double distillation in traditional Charentais copper stills. The resulting eaux-de-vie mature in carefully monitored cellars, moving between barrels as wood, humidity and time gradually develop their character. A tasting committee meets each morning to assess the reserves used by the Master Blender to compose the house’s blends.
Hennessy X.O Cognac 1.5 L
Deep, rounded and warming, with candied fruit unfolding into pepper, dark chocolate and polished oak. The palate is full and voluptuous, balancing rich sweetness with a firm spicy edge and an increasingly intense wave of warmth. Vanilla softens the wood without muting its structure. The finish is exceptionally persistent, echoing oak, chocolate, spice and fruit in a long, composed fade.
Hennessy X.O Cognac 1 L
Deep amber and richly aromatic, with candied fruit, orange peel and cocoa opening over warm oak. The palate is broad and silky, moving through dried fig, cinnamon and black pepper with a measured sweetness at its centre. Layers of fruit and spice remain composed rather than heavy. The finish is long and warming, carrying dark chocolate, polished wood and a final echo of orange.
Hennessy V.S.O.P Cognac
Fresh apricot opens with vanilla and a polished touch of mellow oak. The palate is rounded and supple, with soft fruit sweetness framed by warm spice and a quiet toasted note. The texture remains smooth and composed rather than heavy. The finish is persistent and gently warming, leaving apricot, vanilla, fine spice and seasoned wood in balance.
