AboutHaywire

Haywire began with Christine Coletta and Steve Lornie’s Okanagan vineyard project and a small first Pinot Gris release in 2009. Their purpose-built Summerland winery opened in 2011 as Okanagan Crush Pad. After the winery stopped making wine for outside clients, it was renamed Haywire in 2023.

For Haywire’s wines, winemaker Matt Dumayne works with organically farmed Okanagan fruit, native yeast and low-intervention handling. Concrete tanks, including egg-shaped vessels, are a central part of the cellar. Okanagan Crush Pad in Summerland introduced Narrative in 2014, making wines and grape-based spirits under the new name. The range draws on fruit from estate vineyards and other growers around the Okanagan Valley, with still, sparkling and fortified wines among its releases.

Haywire 2025 King Family Vineyard Pinot Gris

Canadian White
$31.99
Ripe pear, melon and tropical citrus meet spice and a distinctive savoury herbal note. The palate is clean and spare, with concrete fermentation preserving freshness while adding gentle texture. Crisp, balanced and ready to drink, it finishes with orchard fruit and a dry mineral edge. Pair with spicy tuna rolls, prawns or fresh salads.

Haywire 2022 Pinot Noir

Canadian Red
$34.99
Morello cherry, raspberry and rhubarb appear with dried thyme, cranberry acidity and savoury spice. The palate is juicy, with fine sticky tannins and texture from concrete. Pinot Noir came from four Okanagan sites in Kelowna, Naramata, Summerland and Oliver. Thirty percent whole clusters underwent native fermentation in concrete and large neutral oak, followed by ten months of rest before bottling without fining or filtration.

Haywire 2021 Pink Bub

Canadian Sparkling
$34.99
Strawberry tart, tangy lemon and fresh red apple appear with fine bubbles and a light, long body. Old-vine Pinot Blanc is whole-cluster pressed, then fermented and aged in concrete tanks. A second fermentation takes place in horizontal Charmat tanks. Daily lees stirring lasts three months, adding density and palate weight, and a small addition of red wine gives the sparkling wine its pink hue.

Haywire 2022 Lunar Red

Canadian Red
$29.99
Dark red fruit and cassis open the nose, framed by vanilla and restrained baking spice. The palate moves toward vibrant black cherry and plum, with fresh acidity giving the blend cool-climate precision and lift. Grounded and expressive rather than showy, it finishes with an easy food-friendly balance. A natural match for Peking duck or other richly seasoned dishes.

Haywire 2022 King Family Vineyard Merlot

Canadian Red
$31.99
Ripe blackberry, boysenberry and black cherry lead, with savoury leather bringing definition to the fruit. Concrete fermentation shapes a supple, silky texture, while the palate remains generous without feeling heavy. Sourced from old vines, it carries a composed sense of depth and freshness through the finish. A polished, quietly sensual red with excellent table versatility.

Haywire Merlot Pouch 1.5 L
