AboutGueuzerie Tilquin

Gueuzerie Tilquin began work in February 2009 at Bierghes, just inside French-speaking Wallonia and only a short distance from Belgium’s linguistic border. Pierre Tilquin trained as a bioengineer, completed a doctorate in statistics and genetics, and studied brewing science in Leuven. He worked at Huyghe, 3 Fonteinen and Cantillon before opening his own blendery.

For its Oude Gueuze, Tilquin blends oak-matured lambics of one, two and three years old. The beer referments in bottle for at least six months and is neither filtered nor pasteurized.

Gueuzerie Tilquin Oude Gueuze à l’Ancienne 750 mL

Bright citrus and green apple lead a lively aroma, joined by hay, gentle oak and a clean, earthy funk. The palate is dry and sharply refreshing, with tart orchard fruit, lime zest and measured sourness carried by fine carbonation. A subtle leather note adds savoury depth without obscuring the fruit. The finish is long, crisp and lightly woody. Serve well chilled with mussels, aged cheese, charcuterie, or roast chicken.
