AboutGrand Tokaj
Grand Tokaj makes dry and naturally sweet wines in Hungary’s Tokaj-Hegyalja region, led by winemaker Károly Áts. It owns 67 hectares of vineyards and buys grapes from hundreds of growers.
Its modern winery is at Tolcsva, while the Szegi cellars extend for five and a half kilometres through converted medieval quarries. The cellars hold barrels of Aszú and Szamorodni alongside a collection of wines dating back to the 1940s.
Grand Tokaj Classic Selection Tokaji Hárslevelű Semi-Sweet
Straw-yellow colour accompanies a fresh, fruity character and a semi-sweet style. Fully ripe Hárslevelű grapes provide the varietal base, while maturation takes place in small wooden barrels of about two hundred and twenty litres. Residual sugar is listed at 24.8 grams per litre and acidity at 5.4 grams per litre. Suggested pairings include desserts, liver and strongly flavoured cheese.
