AboutGlenora Distillers

Glenora Distillery took shape in 1990 beside MacLellan’s Brook in Glenville, Cape Breton, after founder Bruce Jardine set out to make single malt in a landscape shaped by Scottish settlement. Bowmore Distillers supplied technical guidance, while Forsyths of Rothes built the copper pot stills and a Scottish mash tun crossed the Atlantic with them. The first run filled just twenty casks, and Glen Breton Rare reached the market in November 2000 as Canada’s first single malt whisky.

The whisky begins with barley, yeast and water from MacLellan’s Brook. Fermentation lasts 48–72 hours, followed by double distillation in the original copper pot stills.

Glen Breton House of Alister MacKenzie 12 Year Old Canadian Single Malt Whisky

Canadian Whisky
$129.99

Roasted almond and walnut skin open with apple, grass and an earthy note. The palate is distinctive and savoury, carrying orchard fruit through salted nuts, green bean and a firm vegetal edge. A clay-like character gives the malt an unusual texture without masking its grain. The finish is medium in length, leaving earth, nuts, apple and gentle bitterness.
