AboutChâteau Gazin
Château Gazin occupies a contiguous twenty-six-hectare property on Pomerol’s high terrace, where gravelly ground meets clay-rich soils. Its history reaches back to land associated with the Knights of Saint John and a former hospital that welcomed pilgrims travelling toward Santiago de Compostela. Louis Soualle acquired Gazin in the early 1900s, and fifth-generation Élise and Édouard de Bailliencourt assumed its management in 2023.
Merlot covers nine tenths of the vineyard; smaller parcels carry Cabernet Franc, while Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for the balance across the plateau’s varied textures. Manual picking leads into parcel-by-parcel fermentation in concrete vats, followed by barrel ageing before final blending.
