AboutFitapreta
Fitapreta began in 2004 with a friendship between Portuguese winemaker António Maçanita and British viticulturist David Booth. The partners initially worked in borrowed cellars, experimenting with Alentejo’s grapes and winemaking traditions. Sandra Sárria later joined the team and became a partner.
Since 2017 the winery has worked from Paço do Morgado de Oliveira outside Évora, a medieval estate whose documented roots reach to 1306. A contemporary cork-clad cellar now stands beside the restored historic buildings. The range explores old grape varieties, mixed vineyards and regional methods, including talha winemaking in clay vessels.
FitaPreta 2018 Palpite Reserva Tinto
Concentrated dark-violet colour accompanies intense red fruit, subtle menthol and round tannins. The finish is intense and persistent, and the wine is aged in oak. This dry, full-bodied red blends Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Trincadeira, Baga, Castelão, Tinta Carvalha and Tinta Miúda. The fruit is selected from the strongest vineyard blocks, and the wine is drawn from selected barrels.
Fitapreta 2020 Os Paulistas Chão dos Eremitas
Ruby with violet glints, opening on red woodland fruit, fresh herbs and pomegranate. The palate is vivid and structured, its fine tannins carried by refreshing acidity to a long, precise finish. The old mixed planting and measured élevage add savoury depth without obscuring the fruit.
