Fee Brothers has been part of Rochester’s drinks history since 1864, when Margaret Fee mortgaged her home to help her son James establish the family business. The company moved from wine and spirits into bitters, syrups and other cocktail ingredients, adapting through Prohibition and the years that followed. Fifth-generation brothers Jon Spacher and Benn Fee Spacher took ownership in 2021.
Its Rochester workshop makes bitters, syrups, brines and botanical waters. Vegetable glycerin forms the base of its bitters, a method developed during Prohibition.

Lifted orange peel brings a bright citrus accent with enough concentrated bitterness to add shape and definition. The profile is aromatic and clean, enlivening a drink without overwhelming its base spirit. A few dashes sharpen an Old Fashioned, add fragrant depth to a Manhattan or bring a polished orange edge to a Martini. It is equally useful in alcohol-free mixed drinks when a small measure of focused citrus complexity is needed.
