AboutFattoria Selvapiana

Fattoria Selvapiana occupies a historic Rufina property that began as a medieval watchtower and later became a Renaissance villa. Michele Giuntini acquired it in 1827, and the Giuntini family has guided the estate through five generations. Federico and Silvia Giuntini Masseti have managed the estate since 1997.

Organic farming began in the Fornace vineyard in 1990 and was extended to the other vineyards and olive groves. Its Chianti Rufina wines ferment with native yeasts in steel or concrete, with long skin contact before oak ageing. The single-vineyard Bucerchiale Riserva, introduced in 1979, remains the estate’s flagship.

Fattoria Selvapiana 2022 Chianti Rufina

Italian Red
$47.99
Crushed cherry and red currant appear with red flowers, orange rind and crushed stone. Tart acidity accompanies fine, long, dry tannins and a lighter-bodied profile; a bitter-edged saline finish follows. Sangiovese is joined by small amounts of Canaiolo, Colorino and Malvasia Nera. Native-yeast fermentation and maceration last twenty-five days in stainless steel, followed by twelve months in large French casks.
