Famille Lieubeau
AboutFamille Lieubeau
Famille Lieubeau traces its story to 1816, when the orphan Joseph Grégoire was taken in at Nantes and later learned winegrowing from the family that raised him. The child in a hat on its emblem recalls his story; today Pierre and Chantal Lieubeau run the estate with their children François, Vincent and Marie.
Their organically farmed vineyards lie near Nantes, close to the Atlantic, over several types of ancient bedrock. Melon de Bourgogne is the grape behind their Muscadet wines. For the Muscadet crus, fruit from old vines is picked by hand, fermented with native yeasts and aged for an extended period on its lees in underground vats.
Famille Lieubeau 2023 Pinot Noir
French Red
Blackcurrant, raspberry, violet, ripe red fruit and vanilla sit in a fresh profile with a long finish. The Pinot Noir grows on schist in the Loire and carries twelve percent alcohol. Vinification includes two weeks of maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel with regular cap work. A portion matures in oak, while the balance remains in tank before bottling.
