Famiglia Cotarella
Famiglia Cotarella
AboutFamiglia Cotarella
The Cotarella family’s wine story took shape in the 1960s, when Antonio and Domenico built their first winery in Monterubiaglio. The next generation, Renzo and Riccardo, founded Falesco at Montefiascone to revive local grape varieties. The family later expanded into Umbria with the Marciliano estate and a new cellar south of Orvieto.
In 2016, Dominga, Marta and Enrica took over the business, bringing a third generation into leadership. The name Famiglia Cotarella was adopted to mark that handover.
Famiglia Cotarella 2019 Montiano Merlot
Italian Red
Black cherry, redcurrant and ripe plum meet sandalwood, cedar, balsamic herbs and a measured note of dark chocolate. The palate is full and concentrated, yet fresh acidity keeps the fruit energetic and clearly defined. Silky, polished tannins build a refined structure without heaviness, while rosemary, orange peel and gentle spice add lift. The finish is long, harmonious and savoury, with dark fruit returning.
Falesco Vitiano Rosso
Italian Red
Generous and approachable, with ripe cherry, plum and blackberry layered over licorice, sweet spice and soft herbal notes. The palate is medium-bodied and dry, its smooth tannins and fresh acidity keeping the dark fruit balanced rather than heavy. A supple, savoury finish works well with pasta, pizza, grilled sausages or roast vegetables.
