AboutEstate Argyros

Estate Argyros began in 1903 in Episkopi Gonia, building on family vineyard work that reaches further back on Santorini. Now in its fourth generation, the family farms more than 120 hectares, with an average vine age above 70 years and the oldest vines exceeding 200.

Santorini has volcanic soils, scarce summer rain and persistent winds. On the most exposed parcels, vines are trained into low baskets to shelter the fruit from wind and sun. The family opened a new winery in 2015.

Assyrtiko makes up ninety percent of the blend, with five percent each of Athiri and Aidani. Lemon, lemon blossom, green apple, grapefruit and subtle exotic fruit meet a clean mineral note. Fermentation and maturation take place in stainless steel. The palate is dry, light and direct, with crisp acidity, saline detail and a lemony finish. The release carries PGI Cyclades classification.
