AboutEmrich-Schönleber

Winegrowing in the Emrich family is documented from the mid-eighteenth century, though the property remained a mixed farm into the 1960s. Between 1965 and 1985, Wilhelm Schönleber and then his son Werner reshaped it as a dedicated wine estate, expanding vineyards and making Riesling increasingly central. Frank Schönleber now leads the estate and its cellar in Monzingen, in Germany’s Nahe region.

The family works steep vineyards with slate, quartzite and gravel soils, including Halenberg and Frühlingsplätzchen. Vines are tended by hand, with compost applied where needed, and each cask or tank is handled individually in the cellar.

Emrich-Schönleber 2020 Riesling Trocken

German White
$55.99
A bright, dry Nahe Riesling with citrus blossom, lime zest and ripe stone fruit over smoky, flinty mineral notes. The palate is precise and energetic, combining zesty acidity, saline freshness and a fine texture without added weight. Long and clean on the finish, it has the balance for shellfish, pork, fresh herbs or delicately spiced food.
