AboutChâteau Durfort-Vivens

Château Durfort-Vivens grew from a seventeenth-century wine estate on land long held by the Durfort de Duras family in Margaux. The Vivens name joined Durfort in 1824, and the property entered Bordeaux’s 1855 classification as a Second Growth. Lucien Lurton acquired the château in 1961, and his son Gonzague assumed its direction in 1992.

Its 65 hectares extend across Margaux, Cantenac, Soussans and Arsac, with gravel spread over three geological terraces. Biodynamic work began in 2009, with certification following in 2016. Terracotta jars have been used alongside barrels since the 2018 vintage.
