AboutDominus

Dominus Estate took shape when Christian Moueix discovered Napanook Vineyard in 1981, followed by the first Dominus vintage in 1983. The site’s wine history reaches back to George Yount’s planting in 1838, on gravelly clay-loam ground beneath the Mayacamas Mountains outside Yountville.

The vines are dry-farmed and tended parcel by parcel. Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal variety, alongside Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The low winery, designed by Herzog & de Meuron and completed in 1997, has walls of stone-filled wire cages.
