AboutDomaine René Rostaing

René Rostaing began making wine in 1971 from barely half a hectare in Côte-Rôtie. The estate expanded through family parcels inherited from Albert Dervieux and Marius Gentaz-Dervieux. His son Pierre has directed the day-to-day work since 2015.

Alongside its steep Côte-Rôtie vineyards, the family works holdings in Condrieu and a separate property in the Languedoc. Grapes are harvested by hand, and the amount of destemming varies with the vintage. Ageing is long, with seasoned barrels and larger casks favoured over new oak.

René Rostaing 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Viaillère

French
$386.99

Kirsch, blackberry and ripe plum are framed by violet, dried herbs, olive and green pepper. The palate combines concentration with a velvety, savoury texture, its dark fruit held in line by fresh acidity and fine, rounded tannins. Pepper and mineral notes sharpen the profile as it opens, while a measured touch of oak adds polish. The finish is long, floral and gently herbal rather than heavy.

Domaine René Rostaing 2024 Condrieu La Bonnette

French White
$198.99

Lemon flesh, just-ripe apricot and white peach rise with spring blossom, honeysuckle and a light touch of spice. The palate is fleshy and concentrated but markedly fresh, its well-integrated acidity bringing energy and precision. Lemon peel, bergamot and a fine mineral line carry through the long, clean finish. Serve lightly chilled with scallops, roast chicken, creamy shellfish dishes or delicately spiced vegetable plates.

Domaine René Rostaing 2023 Côte Blonde Côte-Rôtie

French Red
$409.99

Violet, raspberry and warm stone lead, with liquorice, dried herbs and a restrained savoury note. The palate is precise and finely drawn, balancing fresh red fruit with mineral tension and very fine tannins. Côte Blonde’s lighter, sandier soils give this Syrah an especially graceful line, while the finish remains deep and persistent. Serve with roast duck, lamb or wild mushrooms.
