AboutDomaine Raspail-Ay

Domaine Raspail-Ay traces its origins to 1854, when Eugène Raspail planted vines and established the family property at Gigondas. Anne-Sophie and Christophe Ay now continue six generations of family winegrowing. Its roughly nineteen hectares form a single block, with vines averaging about fifty-five years of age.

The family makes one estate Gigondas, harvesting by hand and sorting the grapes twice before destemming and fermentation in concrete. The wine then ages slowly in large, old oak casks.

Ripe cherry, dark wild berries and raspberry lead with peony, violet and Provençal herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is dense and fleshy, with fine mineral tension, ripe structured tannins and a generous core of fruit. Black pepper and a subtle savoury note carry the long, balanced finish.
