AboutDomaine Ponsot
Domaine Ponsot began in Morey-Saint-Denis in 1872, when William Ponsot acquired vines in Clos des Monts Luisants and Clos de la Roche. After phylloxera, he replanted the white Clos des Monts Luisants parcel to Aligoté in 1911; those vines survive, while estate bottling began in the 1920s and exports followed in the 1930s. Rose-Marie Ponsot now leads the domaine with winemaker Alexandre Abel.
In the cellar, the wines undergo long ageing with little or no new oak and restrained use of sulphur. Clos des Monts Luisants is a white Côte de Nuits Premier Cru, largely drawn from the 1911 Aligoté vines.
Domaine Ponsot Clos des Monts Luisants Vieilles Vignes 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Blanc
Pale yellow-green in colour, opening with peach, crisp apple and lemon zest. Honeydew and a light floral note sit above wet stone and restrained savoury spice. The palate is fresh and precise, with high acidity shaping a medium-bodied, lightly creamy texture. Citrus and orchard fruit remain clear through the finish, joined by mineral tension and a subtle honeyed accent that adds breadth without reducing the wine’s energy.
Domaine Ponsot Clos des Monts Luisants Vieilles Vignes 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Blanc
Pale gold in colour, with lemon curd, ripe orchard fruit and a measured nutty edge. Preserved orange and almond add depth, while spice and wet stone keep the nose composed. The palate is broad and lightly creamy, balanced by firm acidity and a focused mineral line. A gentle oxidative note brings savoury complexity without overwhelming the fruit, and the finish is long, dry and quietly saline.

Ripe yellow fruit, pear and green apple open with lemon rind, almond and a quiet honeyed note. The palate is broad and creamy, yet fresh acidity and salinity keep the texture composed. Toast, chestnut and warm spice add depth around a core of citrus and orchard fruit. Full-bodied but controlled, it finishes long and savoury, with mineral tension carrying the richness.
Domaine Ponsot Clos des Monts Luisants Très Vieilles Vignes 2014 Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Blanc
Yellow fruit and citrus lead a rich, stony nose, with flint and restrained oak adding savoury depth. The palate opens broad and rounded, then gains freshness and tension with air. Lemon, pineapple and a light oxidative edge sit over firm acidity and clear mineral structure. Concentrated but not heavy, it finishes long, spicy and saline, with the fruit held in precise balance.
