AboutDomaine Méo-Camuzet
The Méo family’s Burgundy roots reach into the seventeenth century, while Étienne Camuzet, a Vosne-Romanée grower and public figure, acquired vineyard holdings in the early twentieth century. In 1920 Étienne bought the Château du Clos de Vougeot and helped distribute its vineyard land among local growers, retaining a parcel of nearly three hectares below the château for the family. Domaine Camuzet became Méo-Camuzet in 1981, and the first wines bottled under that name came from the 1983 vintage.
Jean-Nicolas Méo returned to Vosne-Romanée in 1989, drawing on Henri Jayer’s cellar mentorship and Christian Faurois’s vineyard knowledge before shaping a method of his own. Grapes are harvested by hand and sorted before fermentation; the cellar uses new oak, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
