AboutDomaine La Taupe
Domaine La Taupe began in 2017, when Dutch natural-wine importer Bertjan Mol and Nicole Messer moved their family to Thésée in the Loire and acquired vineyard parcels from retiring grower Bruno Allion. Nicole manages the domaine and prepares its biodynamic treatments.
The vines lie on an ancient bed of the Cher between Thésée and Monthou-sur-Cher and are farmed biodynamically under Demeter certification. Fermentations begin with native yeasts, no sulphur is added, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
Domaine La Taupe 2018 AK 400 Gamay
Juicy red fruit and wild berries lead, with earth, dried herbs and a faint savoury volatility adding natural-wine character. The palate is light, energetic and gently textural, its refreshing acidity and lively tension carrying through the finish. Serve slightly cool with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled mushrooms or lentil dishes.
