AboutDomaine des Roches Neuves

Founded by the Duveau family in 1850, Domaine des Roches Neuves was taken over by Thierry and Marie Germain in 1991. From Varrains, the domaine now farms 28 hectares across 61 plots, with Cabernet Franc for Saumur-Champigny and Chenin for its white Saumur wines. Louis Germain and Agathe joined the team in 2020.

Tuffeau limestone helps the vineyards retain moisture through dry periods, with chalk, sand and clay also present across the parcels. The entire property moved to organic winegrowing in the late 1990s and into biodynamic methods in the early 2000s.

Thierry Germain Domaine des Roches Neuves 2016 L’Echelier Blanc Saumur Chenin

French
$124.99

Lemon and grapefruit open with white peach, delicate florals and a touch of honeysuckle. The palate is straight and energetic, combining tangy fruit with notable aromatic depth and a clean, focused texture. Citrus freshness keeps the wine lifted while the fruit gains quiet concentration through the middle. The finish is rich yet precise, lingering on white peach, lemon, flowers and fine mineral detail.
