AboutDomaine de l'Ecu

At Domaine de l’Ecu in Le Landreau, Guy Bossard introduced certified organic farming in 1975, followed by Demeter biodynamics in 1998. Fred Niger joined in 2009 and worked alongside Bossard before taking over; Claire and Fred now lead the domaine.

The estate makes separate Melon de Bourgogne wines from granite, gneiss and orthogneiss sites. Alongside its Muscadets, the range includes reds and whites made in amphora, with the choice of vessel varying from wine to wine.

Domaine de l’Ecu 2020 Nobis Syrah

French Red
$41.99

Juicy fruit and pepper spice define a supple red profile. The Syrah comes from organically and biodynamically farmed Southern Rhône plots planted approximately twenty-five to thirty years ago. The grapes were harvested by hand and destemmed. Fermentation lasted ten days with indigenous yeasts, followed by pneumatic pressing and ten months in stainless steel. The wine was bottled without filtration or clarification at fourteen and a half percent alcohol.

Domaine de l’Ecu 2021 Granite Muscadet

French White
$49.99

White-gold in colour, with flint, citrus and oyster shell on an elegant, mineral nose. The palate is sharp and crystalline, carrying chalk, iodine and saline freshness through a long, sea-spray finish. Serve chilled with oysters, scallops, grilled fish, clams or mature goat cheese, or cellar further.
