AboutDomaine Amélie & Charles Sparr
Charles Sparr comes from an Alsatian winegrowing family active since 1634; he represents its twelfth generation. He and Amélie began working together in 2013 and released their first wines under the joint domaine name in 2017. Their estate is based in Wettolsheim and includes eight hectares of grand-cru vineyards.
The estate’s biodynamic farming has been Demeter-certified since the 2019 vintage. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations are followed by long ageing on fine lees, with little added sulphur before bottling. Riesling is made in stainless steel, while many other varieties use Austrian oak.
Domaine Amélie & Charles Sparr 2022 Pensée Pinot Blanc
French White
Yellow stone fruit appears in a completely dry profile with freshness, modest roundness, floral and citrus notes, bright acidity and subtle minerality. Pinot Blanc provides the full composition. The grapes are picked in small crates, and the wine matures for twelve months on fine lees in stainless steel. Residual sugar measures 0.6 grams per litre, and organic farming is used.
