Distillerie Castan is a three-generation family distillery in Villeneuve-sur-Vère, in France’s Tarn department, with a working history that begins in 1941. Gilbert Castan travelled from farm to farm with a mobile still, distilling fruit and grape marc for local growers. Sébastien and Céline Castan developed the present distillery, making both fruit spirits and whisky.
For the fruit spirits, ripe fruit is prepared by hand before distillation, and the spirit rests before bottling. The family also grows cereals used in its whisky.

Ripe Williams pear fills the nose with a clean, fragrant intensity. The palate is rounded and highly aromatic, carrying fresh pear flesh, delicate floral tones and a measured warmth through a supple texture. Made from pears grown in southern France and crushed by hand to preserve their fruit character, the spirit remains pure and direct rather than sweet. The finish is long, poised and unmistakably pear-led. Serve lightly chilled as a digestif or alongside a simple pear tart.
