AboutChâteau de Pez
Château de Pez traces its history to 1452, when the Saint-Estèphe estate was established by Jean de Briscos. For two centuries it belonged to the Pontac family, the historic owners of Château Haut-Brion. Jean-Claude Rouzaud acquired Pez in 1995 and brought it into the Louis Roederer collection, beginning a long renewal of the vineyard and cellar.
Its 42 hectares are divided into 70 plots, principally on gravel rises over clay-limestone subsoil in the western part of Saint-Estèphe. Each plot is cultivated on its own; the wines are fermented and tasted separately, with smaller vats and gentle extraction used in the cellar. Hedges, ecological corridors and beehives complement HVE3-certified vineyard work.

Red and black fruit open with spice, cedar and a cool graphite note. The palate is medium-full and structured, carrying blackcurrant, plum and ripe strawberry through fine, present tannins. Toasted oak and black pepper add depth, while earthy herbs and tobacco emerge with air. The finish is long and savoury, leaving cassis, pencil lead, leather and a balanced mineral grip.
