AboutDe Fermo
De Fermo is a family estate in Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo, on land held by the family since the nineteenth century. Its roughly seventeen hectares of vines form part of a larger mixed farm between the Adriatic and Gran Sasso. The latest generation returned around 2008 and began introducing biodynamic farming.
The family grows Montepulciano, Pecorino and Chardonnay, the last of which was introduced to the property in 1926. Fermentation begins naturally, without added yeasts, and the cellar uses concrete and large wooden vessels. The wines are bottled without fining or filtration.

Pecorino and Chardonnay form the blend. Fermentation and ageing take place in concrete, using grapes from vineyards around 300 metres. Nettle, daisy, almond blossom and apple appear in a pale-yellow wine with a savoury, slender palate and stony character. Biodynamic farming excludes systemic chemical treatments, while the cellar uses no selected yeast, fining, filtration or synthetic processing aids.
