Viñedos del Contino was founded in 1973 by CVNE and the owners of the San Rafael estate. An old manor house and sixteenth-century cellars stand at the property.
Finca San Rafael sits in a bend of the Ebro near Laserna, with terraces of alluvial, sandy and clay-limestone soils. The grapes are picked and sorted by hand, then handled plot by plot in small tanks.

Contino Gran Reserva is a harmonious wine, with a great balance between silkiness and roundness in the mouth. On the nose it is fragrant, reminiscent of ripe black fruit, with floral and balsamic notes that provide freshness. All well balanced with subtle toasted notes from its ageing in barrel. On the palate it is fine, subtle, with pleasant tannins and perfect acidity, which make it a persistent wine with a long finish.
