AboutCombe

Combe is the winemaking partnership of the Stolpman family and Rajat Parr in California’s Ballard Canyon. Its name is the French word for a small, sheltered valley within a vineyard. Parr proposed growing Trousseau on the estate’s wind-cooled limestone; Jessica Stolpman’s 2012 visit to the Jura helped bring the idea to life.

Trousseau cuttings arrived in 2013, the first wines followed in 2014, and Chenin Blanc was added later. The wines come from Stolpman’s organically and biodynamically farmed Ballard Canyon estate.

Combe 2020 Trousseau Ballard Canyon

American Red
$62.99

Bright red fruit leads with strawberry and cherry, followed by dried herbs, lavender and a gentle earthy note. Light in body but softly textured, partial whole-cluster fermentation brings gentle spice and a velvety feel, while neutral oak keeps the profile restrained. Freshness carries the wine through a savoury, quietly persistent finish.
