AboutCoedo Brewery
COEDO’s roots lie in Kyodo Shoji’s work with organic agriculture around Kawagoe in the 1970s. Experiments with local sweet potatoes led to an early beer, and the brewery opened in 1996. German brewmaster Christian Mitterbauer arrived the following year and spent five years training the team.
The COEDO name followed in 2006. The beers take their names from Japanese colours, with balance at the heart of the brewery’s approach.
Coedo Brewery Marihana Session IPA
Japanese Beer
Pale gold with a fluffy white head, opening on a delicate citrusy hop aroma. The palate keeps the hop character bright and measured, balancing a light frame with sophisticated bitterness and expressive flavour. Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo shape the aromatic profile. Serve cold with yakitori, tempura, karaage, sushi or citrus-dressed salads.
COEDO Yuzu Japan Pale Ale 330 mL
Japanese Beer
Delicate yuzu citrus meets a fragrant hop aroma over a pale ale brewed with Japanese rice. The palate is bright and precise, with the rice contributing a crisp, dry finish while the fruit remains lifted rather than sweet. Golden in colour and finely balanced, it offers a refreshing, quietly distinctive profile. Serve well chilled with sushi, tempura, grilled fish, yakitori, citrus-dressed salads or mild goat cheese.
