Clos Marsalette
AboutClos Marsalette
Clos Marsalette is a Pessac-Léognan estate at Martillac, jointly owned by Stephan von Neipperg and Didier Miqueu. It has 12.3 hectares of red-wine vines and 1.3 hectares of white, planted on gravel rises above layers of sand, clay and marine sediments.
Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon lead the red plantings, with a small share of Cabernet Franc; the white vines are Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Grapes are picked by hand and sorted twice before fermentation in wood and concrete for the reds, and stainless steel for the whites.
Clos Marsalette 2019 Pessac-Léognan
French Red
A classically structured Pessac-Léognan with blackcurrant, blackberry and graphite, joined by iodine, earth, tar and black tea. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh, with firm, fine-grained tannins giving the dark fruit a precise frame. Savoury and composed through the finish, it benefits from air and suits roast lamb, beef or mushroom-led dishes.
