AboutCinco Leguas
Winemaker Marc Isart began La Maldición in 2013 and established Bodegas Cinco Leguas in 2019. The name recalls the old five-league boundary for wines supplying Madrid. Isart works with old vines of Tinto Fino, Malvar and other local grapes in the southeastern Vinos de Madrid area, farming without irrigation.
In the cellar, he favours fermentation with naturally occurring yeasts and ageing in concrete or previously used wooden vessels. With La Maldición, he set out to revive the area’s tradition of farmers’ wines.

Spanish Red
Blackberry and dark fruit lead this Madrid red, followed by liquorice and a gentle savoury edge. Tinto Fino provides the red-fruit core while Malvar adds lift to the blend. Fermentation is spontaneous in concrete, followed by roughly five months of maturation, keeping the texture fresh and unforced rather than heavily oaked. The tannins are present but easygoing, making it well suited to tapas, grilled meat or pasta.
