AboutCiacci Piccolomini d'Aragona
Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona is centred on a seventeenth-century palazzo. In 1985, Countess Elda Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona bequeathed the property to its longtime manager, Giuseppe Bianchini. Giuseppe’s children, Paolo and Lucia Bianchini, share ownership, with the next generation also involved in the estate.
The property extends across roughly 195 hectares near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, with about fifty hectares of vineyards and forty of olive groves. South-facing Sangiovese Grosso grows on marl and shale above the Val d’Orcia. Fermentation takes place in the underground Molinello cellar, while the historic palazzo houses wines for long ageing.

Wild berries, cassis and white cherry lead the fruit profile, accompanied by spice and smoke. The nose is vertical and intense, while the palate is toned down in dimension. Sangiovese provides the varietal basis and Tuscany the regional context. Berry fruit, spice and smoke remain the focus, with an intense aromatic profile followed by a smaller-scaled palate.
