Château Sénilhac
Château Sénilhac
AboutChâteau Sénilhac
In 1766, Jean-Baptiste Basterot bought the house at Château Sénilhac from Mademoiselle de Pichon. The Grassin family acquired a three-hectare vineyard in 1938; Michel Grassin restored twenty hectares from 1972, and his sons Loïs and Jean-Luc took over in 1991. Renamed Château Antilope Tibétaine after a sale in 2017, the estate returned to the Sénilhac name in 2022.
Roughly twenty-four hectares of vines grow on clay-limestone north of Saint-Estèphe. Each parcel is monitored for ripeness, and grapes undergo mechanical and hand sorting before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and ageing in French oak.
Château Sénilhac 2020 Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois
French Red
Garnet in colour, with an aromatic, fruit-led nose and a supple, generous palate. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot bring ripe red fruit, savoury depth and a gentle spicy lift. The finish is long and persistent, carrying a polished, composed character. A brief decant will let its aromatic detail settle into focus. Serve with roast beef, lamb, mushroom dishes or firm cheese.
Château Sénilhac 2019 Haut-Médoc
French Red
Ripe blackcurrant, red cherry and plum lead, with cedar, graphite and oak-spice detail. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, combining generous dark fruit with cocoa and tobacco. Tannins provide a firm core while remaining relatively refined, and the balance stays classically Left Bank. Spice, oak and blackberry carry the finish, making this a structured Haut-Médoc with enough fruit to remain approachable.
