AboutChâteau Pradeaux
The Portalis family’s history at Château Pradeaux begins in 1752, when Jean-Étienne-Marie Portalis inherited the Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer property. Suzanne and Arlette Portalis returned in 1939 and rebuilt the estate around Bandol and Mourvèdre, despite wartime destruction of the vines and cellar. Cyrille Portalis took over in 1985; his sons Étienne and Edouard now continue the family’s work.
Mourvèdre remains the property’s defining grape, rooted in the sea-influenced Bandol landscape around the family’s vines and olive trees. The reds are made from late-picked whole bunches, with skin contact lasting up to two months and ageing of as long as four years in large, old oak vats. The estate has been certified organic since 2023.

French Red
Mourvèdre forms the core, with Grenache in support. The cuvée is made with gentle crushing without destemming, native-yeast fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete and extended maceration. Long ageing follows in seasoned oak foudres. Freshness and firm tannins are central to the house style, placing grape composition, maceration and long foudre ageing at the centre of this traditional red.
