AboutChâteau Le Pin

Le Pin began in 1979, when Jacques Thienpont bought a small parcel near Vieux Château Certan and made the first wine in a modest cellar with little more than a few tanks and barrels. Neighbouring plots were added gradually, and the vineyard now covers about two hectares. A new cellar by Belgian architect Paul Robbrecht followed in 2011.

Merlot is planted across gravel, clay and sand marked by iron-rich subsoil on the Pomerol plateau. Picking is manual, with the fruit sorted in three stages and handled in seven small stainless-steel vats before maturation in new oak.

Château Le Pin 1998 Pomerol

French Red
$8,999.99
Macerated black cherry and cassis lead into dark chocolate, truffle and warm spice. The palate is rich and full, but an ethereal, silky texture keeps the concentrated fruit from feeling heavy. Graphite and fine mineral detail bring definition, carrying plum, liquorice and earthy complexity through the exceptionally persistent finish.
