The Joseph Janoueix family has owned Haut-Sarpe since 1930, when it became the family’s first vineyard acquisition. This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé occupies about twenty-one hectares at the edge of the limestone plateau.
Clay-limestone soils carry a vineyard planted to 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Harvesting is manual; the cellar works with concrete, wood and stainless-steel vats before ageing in a mix of new and previously used barrels.

Spicy red fruit and ripe red plum sit at the centre, with liquorice adding a darker, savoury thread. The palate is medium-bodied and crisp, shaped by lively acidity and a gently tart, traditional profile. Fine tannins give the fruit a measured frame without heaviness. The finish stays clean and composed, carrying plum, spice and liquorice with restrained persistence.
