Château Haut-Marbuzet
AboutChâteau Haut-Marbuzet
Hervé Duboscq bought seven hectares in Saint-Estèphe in 1952, beginning the family’s work at Château Haut-Marbuzet. His son Henri joined him in 1962, and decades of parcel-by-parcel rebuilding gradually brought the Marbuzet vineyard back together. Today its seventy-five hectares lie on gravel over clay-limestone.
Merlot covers 40% of the vineyard and Cabernet Sauvignon 50%; Cabernet Franc takes 5%, as does Petit Verdot. The château wine spends fifteen months in new oak barrels.
Château Haut-Marbuzet 1986 Saint-Estèphe
Cassis and spicy berry fruit open with smoke, cedar, tobacco and espresso, followed by earthy and savoury tones. The palate is full-bodied and supple, its mature fruit layered with vanilla, dark chocolate and sweet toast. Structured tannins remain composed, carrying the wine into a long, gently meaty finish.
