AboutChâteau Fleur Haut Gaussens
The Lhuillier family’s story at Les Gaussens begins in 1941, when Daniel and Catherine Lhuillier settled at Vérac near Fronsac. Their son Pierre and his wife Nicole planted eight hectares in 1976; Hervé joined in 1990 and assumed the family business in 1996. Hervé is the estate’s owner and winemaker.
Clay-limestone soils at Vérac support a red vineyard built chiefly on Merlot, with smaller plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Alongside the principal estate red, the range includes single-variety reds and white wines, with winemaking adapted to each vintage.

Blackberry and cherry meet wooden tones in an expressive profile. The palate is silky, with a fine body and balanced, integrated tannins. Merlot accounts for eighty-five percent, while Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec each account for five percent. The red spends six months in French oak and is bottled at fourteen percent alcohol. Its clay-and-limestone vineyard is exposed to the south.
