AboutChâteau Doisy-Védrines

Château Doisy-Védrines takes its name from the Chevaliers de Védrines, who held the Barsac property before the ancestors of the Castéja family bought it in the mid-nineteenth century. It was ranked a Second Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Olivier and Eric Castéja own the estate, with Guillaume Lefebvre directing its fifty-one hectares in Haut-Barsac.

Autumn mists from the Ciron encourage noble rot in the Sémillon-led vineyard. Harvest can last six to eight weeks, with pickers returning as many as nine times to select the grapes. The wine ferments in barrel, and each cask is assessed individually before the final selection.

Château Doisy-Védrines 2006 Sauternes 375 mL

French Dessert
$59.99

Rich and precise, with apricot, peach and candied citrus layered over honey, saffron and a clear note of botrytis. The palate is full and luscious, yet firm acidity keeps the sweetness poised and detailed. A long, golden-fruited finish suits blue cheese, foie gras, almond tart or a simple plate of ripe stone fruit.
