AboutChâteau Dereszla
Beneath Bodrogkeresztúr in Hungary, Château Dereszla’s cellars extend for about a kilometre. A fifteenth-century record describes wine stored here as a tithe for the Hungarian crown. A cannonball from the 1848–49 struggle for Hungarian independence remains embedded in a wall.
The winery works with Furmint, Hárslevelű, Yellow Muscat and Kabar from Tokaj’s volcanic vineyards. Its range runs from dry and bottle-fermented sparkling wines to late-harvest wines, Aszú and Eszencia. Dry and sparkling production has been based at its Henye winery since the 2015 vintage.

Dried apricot, honeycomb and dried flowers lead into peach and a restrained thread of spice. The palate is richly sweet and concentrated, yet bright acidity gives the wine clarity and lift. A silky texture carries the fruit through a long, balanced finish. Pair with foie gras, blue cheese or apricot tart.
