AboutChâteau de la Maltroye
Château de la Maltroye sits at the top of Chassagne-Montrachet, its eighteenth-century tiled roof above vaulted cellars dating to the fifteenth century. The Cournut family has owned the property since 1941, and third-generation Jean-Pierre Cournut returned from a career in aeronautics to take charge in 1993.
The estate has thirteen hectares of vines in Chassagne-Montrachet and two in Santenay, with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir across its range. Grapes are harvested and sorted by hand; whites begin fermentation in tank and finish in barrel, while grapes for the reds are fully destemmed. Its holdings include the walled Clos du Château de la Maltroye, a premier-cru vineyard owned entirely by the estate.

Built around Chardonnay, this white Burgundy shows lemon zest, pear and white flowers, with a hazelnut nuance adding another documented aromatic detail. A fine texture is part of the profile, alongside limestone-driven minerality. Together, the source presents citrus, orchard fruit, floral character, a nutty note, tactile finesse and mineral definition in a clear, carefully delineated tasting portrait.
