AboutChâteau de Jau

At Château de Jau, wine, history and contemporary art occupy the same rugged corner of Roussillon. Cistercian monks founded the site in the twelfth century, and a medieval watchtower still stands above vineyards and olive trees once cultivated around the abbey. Jean and Bernard Dauré bought the estate in 1973; Bernard’s children, Estelle and Simon, later succeeded them, with Simon now directing the property.

About one hundred hectares of vines lie on the first Corbières foothills in the Agly Valley, surrounded by garrigue and exposed to Tramontane and maritime winds. The vineyard entered organic conversion in 2018 and has been certified since 2021. The estate also has a gallery in the former silkworm buildings and a vineyard grill established more than forty years ago.

Château de Jau 2021 Or-Ange

French White
$31.99
An approachable skin-contact white with vivid tangerine, waxy orange, ginger and exotic fruit aromas. The palate is dry and easy-moving, with citrus brightness, gentle phenolic grip and a floral lift from the blend. Ten days on the skins add texture without heaviness, leaving a fresh, lightly spiced finish.

Château de Jau 2009 Chez Jau Rivesaltes Ambré 500 mL

French Dessert
$41.99
Golden amber in colour, opening on bright honey, orange zest and ginger loaf. The palate is smooth and velvety, layering toasted almond, gingerbread and dried fruit over a sweet, caramelized core. Lively acidity keeps the oxidative richness in balance, carrying spice and nuts through a long finish suited to dark chocolate or sticky toffee pudding.
