AboutChâteau d’Astros

Astros traces its estate story to a Templar farm established on the Argens plain in the thirteenth century, later carried on by the Knights of Malta. A first cellar followed in 1637, while the nineteenth century brought Maximin Martin’s 1802 purchase and the Tuscan-inspired château completed by his grandson in 1860. The property remains with the Maurel family, with Bruno Maurel managing the domaine alongside his nephews and nieces.

From 1963, Bernard Maurel renewed the vineyard and built a modern cellar, as the estate increasingly turned from red wine toward rosé. In 2021 the vineyard began a transition to organic farming, with soil life and biodiversity among the family’s guiding priorities.

Château d’Astros 2022 La Belle Vie Rosé

French Rosé
$28.99

Peach, melon and citrus form a fresh profile with a rounded palate. Redcurrant and citrus appear in a silky finish. The rosé is made from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah grown in Provence. Grapes are harvested at night, and cellar work limits added inputs and sulphites. The wine carries organic status, is classified under Côtes de Provence and contains 13 percent alcohol.
