AboutChâteau d'Agassac
In 1238, Agassac was held by the Gaillard de Gassac family. The modern vineyard took shape through the late-nineteenth-century reunion of the d’Agassac and Pomiès-Agassac properties. A major restoration of the winery and château followed around the turn of the twenty-first century, and Gérard Jicquel acquired the property in 2021. In the classification published in 2020, Château d’Agassac joined the Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnels of the Haut-Médoc.
Its forty-three-hectare vineyard occupies two gravel rises and a band of sandy gravel at Ludon, planted to Cabernet and Merlot. Grapes are sorted in the vineyard and again at the winery, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. The wines mature in a combination of new barrels and tanks.
