AboutChâteau Brane-Cantenac

Château Brane-Cantenac is a Margaux Second Growth whose stewardship has remained with the Lurton family for four generations. Henri Lurton directs the estate, and the modest château remains a family home.

Its principal wine comes entirely from Terrace 4, a plateau of sandy gravel over deeper gravel and clay. Some Cabernet Sauvignon vines here are more than sixty years old, with individual vines tended according to their age and needs. Soil mapping helps guide the selection of parcels for each of the estate’s wines.

Warm black plum, Morello cherry and mulberry lead an expressive, mature profile. Blackberry and dark cherry remain clear through the palate, joined by earth, cedar and a restrained touch of vanilla. The texture is polished and balanced, with fresh acidity and resolved tannins carrying the fruit rather than masking it. Gentle spice builds toward a composed, savoury finish with lingering dark berries and fine mineral detail.
