AboutChâteau Barrail Chevrol
Château Barrail Chevrol is a Dorneau family estate in Fronsac. The family’s local winegrowing history reaches back to 1870, when parcels were assembled around Château La Croix. Patrick Dorneau now oversees the family’s vineyards.
Barrail Chevrol’s vines grow on clay-limestone slopes with fossil-rich limestone beneath. Merlot takes the leading role in its red wine, alongside Cabernet Franc.

Merlot forms eighty percent of the blend, with Cabernet Franc accounting for the remainder. Blackcurrant, raspberry, sour cherry and cassis compote meet Bulgarian rose, roasted nut, black pepper and cocoa. The wine is round and balanced, with ripe fruit, soft tannins and a generous texture. Its Fronsac vineyards lie on clay-limestone and fossil-bearing soils in Bordeaux, France.
